Before you get started and want to consider fertility investigations and treatment, it might be worth considering a few basic questions, as some of these will be considered either by the clinic (if you self-refer) or by your GP to ensure you meet their criteria for referral. These are general criteria and there may be some exceptions, for example a single woman wishing to have donor insemination but in general:
- You should be a UK resident
- You should be a couple in a stable relationship
- If you’re in a heterosexual relationship and have been trying for a baby for at least 12 months*
- Are prepared to undergo all necessary investigations and child welfare checks in order to qualify for treatment
When you have considered these factors read how to access our service.
*earlier referral may be considered if other factors might contribute to the problem e.g. age, previous infections, chemotherapy, medical of surgical history
